I first read this book in the late '50 and LOVED it. I is a novel which takes place during the San Francisco Earthquake and Fire. It deals with the earthquake, the fire, the evacuations, and the story of people who lived through it.

It contains a lot of history, a little "clean" romance, and a lot of action/5(50). It is what it is, a historical romance, with a secret tragedy.

Phyllis A. Whitney had been a dancer and began to write after she had her daughter, her books always made my Mom smile.
